In the NBA LIVE 08 simulation, Sunsí guard Steve Nash led the team to their first NBA championship, and was The Finals MVP. Nash provided veteran leadership and consistency throughout the series averaging a team high 20 ppg and 11.7 apg that proved too much for the Celtics.
The Celtics, who finished last in the Eastern Conference during the 2006-2007 NBA season, rebounded with an infusion of talent following the acquisitions of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in the off-season. The trio of Garnett, Allen and Paul Pierce led the Celtics to their first trip to The Finals in 21 years. Garnett led the team in scoring throughout the regular season (25.9 ppg) and rebounds (11.8 rpg), with Pierce and Allen following close behind with 21.9 ppg and 17.8 ppg respectively.
Both teams posted impressive regular season records paving their road to The Finals and earned the first seed into the playoffs. The Suns knocked off the defending champion San Antonio Spurs in seven games in the Western Conference Finals, while the Celtics defeated the New Jersey Nets in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals.
