Gaming News - December 2006
Redmond, WA (December 13, 2006) - Microsoft today announced that
Chingy will be playing Project Gotham Racing 3 in its next Game With Fame event.
From Microsoft:
Lyrically known for "chillin' at the Holiday Inn", Chingy will swap his room
key for a controller to face fans on Xbox Live as part of the latest Xbox Live
Game with Fame session.
Xbox Live Gold members interested in a chance to challenge the hip hop artist in
Project Gotham Racing 3 for Xbox 360 should keep their eyes open for the
gamertag ‘ChingyGWF’ from 4:00 p.m. EST to 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, December
14, 2006.
“Getting loose on Xbox Live allows me to show my appreciation for where I come
from, and who supports me. It lets me show the world how I not only dominate the
rap game but the virtual court too," jokes the rapper.
The 2003 summer single "Right Thurr" put Chingy on the map as a good-time rapper
who specialized in catchy, club-friendly beats. This hit alone topped No. 1 on
the U.S Rap Billboard Charts and No. 2 on both the Hot 100 and U.S R& B
Billboard Charts.
Chingy grew up in the Walnut Park section of St. Louis and began rapping in his
late teens. Chingy toured as an opening act with Nelly in the summer of 2002 and
then became a protege of Ludacris, who signed Chingy to his newly-formed
Disturbing the Peace record label. Chingy's 2003 debut album, Jackpot, sold two
million copies, thanks to the boost from "Right Thurr," a danceable homage to
distaff pulchritude. He struck certified platinum again in ‘04’ with PowerBallin’,
which proved to the world that Chingy was no one-hit wonder. Ching-a-Ling is
back with his third and most exciting album, Hoodstar.
