Redwood City, CA (December 27 , 2002) - Maxis today released information on The Sims Online's New Year's celebrations.

If you don't have New Year's Eve plans, now you do. If you have made plans, change them! The Sims Online will be hosting an in-game New Year's Eve bash all-day long on December 31st. The Sims Online will be the hottest place for you and your friends to be on New Year's Eve.

On December 31st, all players will receive their own free, exclusive, animated New Year's Eve Top Hat object with a descending disco ball. They can place it anywhere on their property for use all day long. This special holiday object will automatically kick into party mode on the Sim hour, every Sim hour on New Year's Eve. When that happens, players who "celebrate" with another Sim by kissing them will receive a boost in their mood and a bonus payout of 50 Simoleons. Who needs to be rockin' in Times Square with Mr. Clark when you've got smooching and Simoleons in The Sims Online?

The Sims Online will be the hottest place to throw your own online bash and attend hundreds of virtual parties all day long. It will be the most exciting place for you and your friends as you usher in 2003.
