Gaming News - November 2005
Irvine, CA (November 9, 2005) - Blizzard Entertainment today
announced that it has opened six new realms for World of Warcraft in North
America.
From Blizzard:
These realms give players eager for a fresh start a chance to create new
characters and begin adventuring in a new copy of the game world.
In addition, the six new realms provide gamers who are interested in trying
World of Warcraft for the first time an opportunity to do so on equal footing
with other players.
The new realms that opened today are listed below. They include a combination
of normal, player-vs.-player (PvP), and role-playing player-vs.-player (RP-PvP)
realms, offering a variety of choices in terms of preferred play style and realm
rule set.
Azshara (PvP)
Agamaggan (PvP)
Lightninghoof (RP-PvP)
Malfurion (Normal)
Frostmourne (PvP, Oceania-preferred)
Khaz'goroth (Normal, Oceania-preferred)
In support of World of Warcraft players based in Australia, New Zealand, and
Singapore, Blizzard designated one normal and one PvP realm as
Oceania-preferred. This means that the time on these two realms is set to GMT
+11, providing players who have previously had difficulty attending
time-sensitive world events due to time zone differences better opportunities to
now experience this content. Because of the need to conduct weekly maintenance
simultaneously for all realms in an individual region, the Oceania-preferred
realms will have scheduled downtime at the same time as all other North
America-based realms.
