Gaming News - October 2004
Seoul, SK (October 21, 2004) - NCsoft Corp today announced that
Lineage II commercial service will launch in China Nov. 10.
From NCsoft:
NCsoft began beta service of the game in August 2003, through the
establishment of a joint venture company. The beta service was very favorably
received in China, attracting more than 100,000 concurrent game users in one
week. Although Lineage II has not yet officially launched, approximately two
million subscribers are now enjoying the game.
“Considering the kind of reaction we had from the Chinese users during the trial
service period, we are optimistic about the success of Lineage II in the Chinese
market,” said Mr. Suk Hyun Bae, General Manager of NCsoft’s operations in China.
“Among all the overseas markets the Chinese market has the greatest potential
and is influenced by the largest number of variables. It is my expectation that
the know-how that NCsoft has accumulated in the field of online game service
will produce extraordinary results.”
China will be the fifth market in which Lineage II has launched. The game has
already launched commercially in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and North America.
NCsoft plans to add Thailand and Europe to this list in the coming months.
