Gaming News - October 2004
(October 8, 2004) - A demo is now available for Medal of Honor:
Pacific Assault. The demo includes a level from the single player campaign
that lets you experience the battle for Henderson Field on Guadalcanal:
The level opens up with a brief narration summarizing the history of the
battle:
In 1942, flying over the island of Guadalcanal, the crew of a B17 reported the
Japanese were constructing an airstrip to block the Allied path to Tokyo.
The 1st Marine Division attacked and routed the resistance at the airfield -
then awaited the supplies and reinforcements needed to capture the entire
island. They never arrived.
Unsupplied and surrounded, the Marines battled for six months in the most
horrific warfare man has ever known - against the unremitting onslaught of the
Empire of Japan.
The Japanese called it Lunga Point.
The Marines called it Henderson Field.
It was the key to controlling the Pacific.
My name is Tommy Conlin, and I was there.
