Los Angeles, CA (October 8, 2003) - Vivendi Universal today announced that gamers that preorder War of the Ring will be invited to participate in the game's beta testing.

Vivendi Universal Games today announced that thousands of additional gamers will have the opportunity to participate in the public beta test for The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring (War of the Ring), their upcoming real-time strategy game due to be released on November 4th.

The beta test program, currently available only to FilePlanet subscribers, focuses on multiplayer play balancing and load testing to ensure the best possible launch for the ambitious RTS and includes five multiplayer maps.

To ensure entry into the beta program, interested testers need only pre-order War of the Ring through GameStop.com or EBGames.com starting this evening, October 8. All those who pre-order through those retail sites will be able to download the beta version of War of the Ring and begin playing immediately. As a special bonus, those enthusiastic enough to pre-order War of the Ring will be able to play the beta version until November 3rd, just a day before they are shipped the full version of the game.

All beta testers will have access to a private message board to communicate directly with the developers at Liquid Entertainment and VU Games.
