Gaming News - September 2003
Los Angeles, CA (September 15, 2003) - Vivendi Universal Games (VU
Games) announced today that it will release the demo of The Lord of the Rings:
War of the Ring on September 22nd.
The demo will include two single-player missions from the game - The Siege of
the Iron Hills and the Pursuit of Gollum. In both missions, players take the
side of the forces of light in their attempt to destroy the One Ring.
From VU Games:
In War of the Ring, massive battles erupt as the peoples of Middle-earth
fight for control of Tolkien's World. Gamers can play as the forces of good and
valiantly fight for the One Ring's destruction or assume command of the forces
of evil to claim control over Middle-earth forever.
War of the Ring delves deeper into the stories of the heroes in The Lord of
the Rings, allowing the player to see the events that led to the founding of The
Fellowship, and participating in some of the battles taking place during the
Ring quest.
In contrast, the storyline for the forces of darkness follows the story of
Sauron after his escape from Dol Guldur during the reformation of his armies in
Mordor. This story allows the player to play the forces of darkness for the
first time, leading armies of Orcs, Trolls, and Haradrim, as the power of Sauron
grows across the face of Middle-earth.
In addition to its epic single-player component, War of the Ring also
includes robust multiplayer gameplay over local area network or the Internet.
The Lord of the Ring: War of the Ring is set to be released worldwide this
November. More information can be found at the game's official website:
www.lordoftherings.com/war.
The War of the Ring demo will be released via the VU Games website on
September 22nd. The company will also make the demo available to all press and
community sites that wish to host it.
