San Francisco, CA (July 31, 2006) - SEGA today announced that Yakuza
has officially gone gold and is scheduled to ship in North America on Tuesday
September 5 for the Sony PlayStation 2.

Players will be able to take to the streets of Tokyo’s authentic nightlife
and experience the thrilling lifestyle of the largest organized crime group in
the world, the Yakuza. The game also features a celebrity cast including Michael
Rosenbaum, Mark Hamil, Michael Madsen, Rachael Leigh Cook, and Eliza Dushku
In SEGA’s Yakuza, players will help Kiryu Kazuma, a former rising star in the
Yakuza, and guide him through a twisted underworld plot involving the mysterious
young girl Haruka and a missing $100 million. Players will go through an
immersive cinematic story written by award-winning Japanese novelist Seishu Hase
and renowned producer Toshihiro Nagoshi. The game will engage players to explore
an authentic Tokyo through the hidden nightlife district and sprawling neon-lit
streets and nightclubs. The game’s new fighting engine will allow players to
string together attack combos so they can simultaneously take out multiple
enemies and grab in-game objects to bash opponents and win the battle. Players
will also be able to take part in numerous mini games and side missions
including hitting balls in a batting cage, gambling at the local casinos,
relaxing at the massage parlor and more.
Yakuza will be rated M for Mature by the ESRB.
