Gaming News - July 2005

Washington, DC (July 6, 2005) - The Army announced today that in honor of America’s Army’s third anniversary on July 4th, they will release several new features on their www.americasarmy.com website.

From The Army:

The site will feature:

Overviews from the Army and the development team on the evolution of the game since 2002
An in-depth ‘Making Of’ site that details the development of the game from resource gathering to sound and programming to working with Special Forces Soldiers
A game timeline detailing all of features and content introduced into America’s Army over the last three years.
A video section featuring a ‘Making Of’ video of behind-the-scenes footage of developers in the fields with Soldiers.

This year will see the launch of America’s Army: Rise of a Soldier (Ubisoft) which offers the most true-to-life Army experience on a console, allowing players to create a Soldier and take him through the adventures of an Army career. The console game will be available in Summer 2005 on the PS2 and Xbox. On the PC side America’s Army: Special Forces (Overmatch) will be available this winter and includes missions featuring cooperative gameplay against AI in which players experience the overmatch capabilities that Special Forces Soldiers bring to the battlefield in terms of their ability to engage and defeat much larger hostile forces. Gamers go through in-game training to use key new weapons and systems used by Special Forces Soldiers including the Javelin Missile and the Special Forces GMV variant of the HMMWV.

Players can also look forward to the America’s Army Real Hero program where they can learn about the backgrounds and accomplishments of actual Soldiers who have rendered distinguished service in the Global War on Terrorism. This program will incorporate these Soldiers’ likeness and background into action figures, the game, and on our www.americasarmy.com and www.goarmy.com websites.
