San Francisco, CA (July 26, 2002) - Ubi Soft Entertainment today
announced the official name of its new first-person shooter game, Far Cry.
Far Cry is planned for a worldwide release on PC CD-ROM in late 2003.
"Considering the unique, advanced technology, the amazing graphics and
atmosphere of this new FPS jewel, we have great expectations for this soon-to-be
massive hit!" said Alain Corre, managing director for Europe, Asia Pacific and
South America, Ubi Soft Entertainment. "Far Cry is already looking superb, and
we plan to deliver something very special to please gamers in 2003."
In Far Cry, players find themselves abducted and taken to a group of
beautiful islands in Polynesia complete with sun, sea, sand and...
sub-machineguns! The game's unlikely hero soon finds himself fighting for
survival against highly trained and heavily armed opponents, while becoming ever
more embroiled in a deeper conspiracy.
"With Far Cry, Crytek will enter into a new dimension of the FPS Genre. With
more tactical elements and far advanced AI, Far Cry will give players a
completely new feeling of gameplay," said Faruk Yerli, chief marketing officer,
Crytek.
