Gaming News - June 2003
Fairfax, VA (June 5, 2003) - Mythic Entertainment, developer and
publisher
of Dark Age of Camelot, has joined forces with iGames, an association of
game centers which works on behalf of independent and franchised game centers
to organize promotions and to bring games and hardware into local centers.
The two companies plan to collaborate on a series of online events to
be held at iGames' member locations.
"Mythic Entertainment believes in the value of game centers and the opportunity
it represents for fans to gather and play Dark Age of Camelot together,"
Mark Jacobs, CEO and president, Mythic Entertainment explained. "We've
been looking for ways to reach out to players through the growing gaming
center community. iGames is the most efficient way for us to achieve this
and reach the largest number of centers possible."
From Mythic Entertainment:
Through the partnership with Mythic, iGames plans to demonstrate its value
as a game center association and as a liaison to video game companies for
game centers. Mythic will help promote the online events, which both parties
expect will drive large numbers of loyal fans to game centers. As part
of the agreement, Mythic will also furnish participating centers with copies
of Dark Age of Camelot, free accounts and marketing materials.
The first in a series of quarterly events that the companies will coordinate
will be called "Halloween in June," slated to take place June 6. The event
will happen simultaneously at as many as 200 game centers in Brazil, Canada
and the U.S. Players are invited to come to the game centers, dressed
up in Halloween costume and participate in an online scavenger hunt, searching
for items hidden in the three realms of Dark Age of Camelot. To find a

"With the phenomenal growth of the MMORPG genre experienced in iGames centers,
working with Mythic to present events in a fun and social atmosphere is
a natural progression," said Carol Bennett, events director, iGames. "Since
its release, the interest in Dark Age of Camelot has continued to grow
among our players, keeping it in our top 20 games list for more than 13
months!"
