Gaming News - May 2002
Redmond, WA (May 22, 2002) - Microsoft Game Studios today announced
that it will introduce its console racing franchise RalliSport Challenge to the
PC. Scheduled to hit store shelves this holiday season, RalliSport
Challenge offers gamers and racing fans an off-road Rally racing experience.
"We felt that the PC racing industry needed a shot in the arm, and what
better way to shake up the category than with the critically acclaimed 'RalliSport
Challenge,'" said Stuart Moulder, general manager of Microsoft Game Studios. "'RalliSport
Challenge' for the PC will feature action-packed racing and adventure from its
Xbox™ predecessor, providing an intense experience to all PC gamers."
From Microsoft:
Developed by Digital Illusions CE, "RalliSport Challenge" provides a unique
racing experience that combines four types of Rally competition, Hill Climb,
Traditional Rally, Rallycross and Ice Racing, into one game. With 29 fully
licensed cars to choose from and 48 tracks to race on, "RalliSport Challenge"
provides gamers with the thrill of racing fast cars on all types of terrain.
PC gamers and racing fans will be tested with different modes of gameplay
including racing against the clock in a time challenge and jostling for position
on treacherous terrain against other cars and drivers. In addition, "RalliSport
Challenge" offers single race modes, a career mode, where gamers can unlock new
cars and tracks, and a network multiplayer feature, allowing racers to compete
against their friends in high-octane wheel-to-wheel action. With so much depth
and modes of play, "RalliSport Challenge" is a must have for all PC gamers.
"RalliSport Challenge" features advanced graphics, including swaying trees,
animated crowds and ultrarealistic particle effects, as cars run through mud,
dirt, snow and water. In addition, "RalliSport Challenge" delivers distinctive
audio effects from the actual cars, enabling racers to distinguish the
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO V1 from the Peugeot 306. "RalliSport Challenge" will be
available this holiday season.
