Gaming News - May 2002

Redmond, WA (May 10, 2002) - Microsoft today announced that the Siege Editor, the editing tool for Dungeon Siege, is now available on the game's official site at http://www.microsoft.com/games/dungeonsiege.  The Siege Editor gives gamers the ability to rework nearly every aspect of the game, creating their own spells, dungeons, and worlds.

From Microsoft:

The Siege Editor is packed with features that allow gamers to create almost any scenario imaginable without having to write any programming code by hand. Key features include:

  • Assemble terrain using more than 3800 different nodes
  • Populate worlds with more than 200 different monsters and 150 NPCs
  • Script battles, ambushes, and elaborate in-game movies
  • Create lush environments with more than 1200 different objects
  • Scale, rotate, and adjust the behavior of any object in the game
  • Create lighting with a mixture of ambience, point, spot, and directional light sources
  • Enhance levels with ambient sounds and special effects

Coinciding with the release of the Siege Editor, Gas Powered Games is publishing the first of many tutorials called Siege University. In the first tutorial, Siege U 100, gamers will learn the basics of the editor, assemble terrain and create a basic map. Future Siege U topics will include Templates, Skrit, Siege FX, Quests and more. For more information on Siege University, please visit:  http://www.dungeonsiege.com.
