Renton, WA (April 6, 2006) - Wizards of the Coast today announced that
VISIONS is launching this month as the latest expansion set for Magic Online.
From Wizards of the Coast:
VISIONS will launch Monday, April 10
at 9 a.m. PST. Release events for the new set will start on April 13.
VISIONS was originally released in 1997 as a companion set to Mirage for
Magic:
The Gathering. Magic Online's Mirage set released in December of last year.
The set contains 167 cards including long-time fan favorites like Vampiric
Tutor,
Nekrataal and Chronatog. In addition, VISIONS will also feature four theme
decks
designed by the Magic: The Gathering R&D team exclusively for this set - Savage
Stompdown, Unnatural Forces, Legion of Glory and Wild-Eyed Frenzy.
Release events for VISIONS will feature two new avatars. All participants in
VISIONS Leagues and Premier Events will receive the Nekrataal avatar, with
winners
receiving the Chronatog avatar.
With the release of VISIONS, players will have a variety of new game
mechanics
to play with.
Alternate casting cost spells -- Play spells without paying their mana cost
Comes-into-play effect creatures -- Creatures with the added power of a
sorcery
Phasing and flanking -- New twists on the Mirage mechanics
