Gaming News - March 2007
Redwood City, CA (March 28, 2007) - Electronic Arts today announced
that POGO Island has shipped to retailers in North America and Europe.
From EA:
Online entertainment is now on-the-go as Pogo.com, a leading casual games
site, makes its exclusive debut to the Nintendo DS system with five of the most
popular puzzle games on the Internet - Word Whomp, Poppit!, Phlinx, Tri-Peaks
Solitaire and Squelchies. Get your hands on this portable escape and brace
yourself for hours of stimulating, challenging and stress-busting fun.
Each game features an easy to pick up and difficult to master style of
gameplay, hooking in even the most casual gamer. Select the ‘Quick Play’ mode
for immediate access to the five Pogo titles and begin accumulating tokens with
repeated, successful play. Tokens can also be earned in the ‘Island Adventure’
mode in which you are put on a quest to scour the island for stranded Pogo
mascots. Once you’ve rallied up a good number, you can transfer the tokens to
Pogo.com* and reap the benefits of being a token guru, with bragging rights at
your disposal.
With four fresh mini-games, as well as the island-themed favorites, POGO
Island captures the online experience and more on the Nintendo DS. Game
descriptions are listed below:
- Word Whomp – Whomp adorable gophers and spell as many words as you can
from a given set of letters before the clock runs out.
- Poppit! – Just pop and go! Release hidden "prizes" in this puzzle favorite
by popping groups of two or more balloons of the same color.
- Phlinx – Create groups of colored stones, collect ancient power-ups, and
make your way to the bonus round in this action puzzle.
- Tri-Peaks Solitaire – A fun and fast-paced solitaire game where you remove
cards to uncover tokens and powerup bonus cards.
- Squelchies – In this puzzle game, match Squelchies by color to release
them from the board.
