Gaming News - March 2007
Minneapolis, MN (March 21, 2007) - Destineer today announced the
results of “Deep Battle,” the final phase of their Custom Map Competition for
Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, the WWII Eastern Front FPS from Tripwire
Interactive.
From Destineer:
After a long time playing and replaying the mass of great entries, the judges
at Destineer and Tripwire Interactive have reached a consensus and we are
pleased to announce the winners as follows:
1st place – Smolensk Stalemate, created by Joni “Xendance” Mäkelä who wins the
grand prize of a $5000 custom high end gaming PC!
2nd Place – Leningrad by Kevin “DrGuppy” Butt who wins an Nvidia Geforce 7800
GTX 512MB Graphics Card.
3rd Place - Berezina by Mark “Slyk” Dittman who picks up a Logitech G7
Laser mouse and G15 Keyboard.
“We were simply amazed at the sheer number of high quality maps entered for the
competition and had a very difficult time picking the winners” said John Gibson,
President of Tripwire Interactive. “The hardest part was narrowing it down to
three winners when there were so many great maps to choose from. We take our
hats off to everyone that entered.”
From bombed out cityscapes to sprawling rural tank battles there is something
for everyone in these incredible custom maps. And apart from the great gameplay
these maps offer, there are amazing new features being added to the game using
the Red Orchestra SDK. In amongst these maps you will find new vehicles, such as
the Soviet BT-7 light tank, plus the first implementation of crewable anti-tank
guns in the game – the Soviet 45mm gun.
As a result of the high quality of the entries, our friends at Logitech have
come up with some extra prizes, which will be distributed amongst the Runners
