Gaming News - March 2007

Redwood City, CA (March 20, 2007) - Konami today announced that it has shipped Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007 for the DS.

From Konami:

The official game of the annual Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament, the DS title offers an incredibly faithful adaptation of the hit trading card game, with more than 1600 cards to use, new modes of play and full online play with community support via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection with full voice chat capabilities.

Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007 lets fans of the trading card game construct their own deck from more than 1600 cards and use it to duel against computer-controlled opponents across a variety of gameplay modes. The game features a Limited Duel mode in which only certain types of cards can be used as well as Survival Duel Mode in which the player must survive for as long as possible against a seemingly endless array of adversaries. Players that own the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller game for Nintendo DS will be able to exchange cards and decks between the two games.

Taking advantage of the wireless capabilities of the Nintendo DS, Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007 features extensive support for online play and community building through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. Players will be able to compete with others in online head-to-head play and can use voice chat to communicate with their opponent as they trade cards or prepare to battle. Players will also be able to connect to the online service to download new cards as they become available for even more strategic deck building opportunities. The game will also boast extensive worldwide and local online leaderboards that will let virtual duelists see how they stack up against the competition.
