Gaming News - March 2004

New York, NY (March 25, 2004) - Codemasters today released information on the nanomorph technology appearing in their upcoming game, Perimeter.

From Codemasters:

Bringing innovative tactical play to strategy gaming, Perimeter will be the first RTS title to give players the ability to instantly transform combat troops through the game’s use of nanomorph technology when it launches exclusively for PC/CD-ROM in the United States in June 2004.

Nanomorph technology enables Perimeter players to instantly combine and transform basic units into specialist combat units. Players can morph units while engaged in combat to suit any attack scenario. For an example of nanomorph technology in action, please visit www.codemasters.com/perimeter.

Perimeter begins with three basic types of units available: Soldiers, Officers and Technicians. The energy extracted from each planet’s surface can be morphed together in various combinations to create units with specific combat techniques, providing players with powerful tactical opportunities to adapt units to a particular situation.

For example, when approaching an enemy base with 30 basic Soldiers and a wave of enemy troops on the horizon, players can immediately combine and transform their Soldiers into 10 rocket units for a fierce battle. Should the adversary raise a Perimeter force shield, players can react by morphing units into Leeches, which attack by draining power reserves and disabling the enemy’s Perimeter. With the enemy now an easy target, players can retreat and convert troops to long range bombardiers, such as Wargon Tanks, or mop up the decimation with Snipers for the ultimate victory.

As the much-anticipated science fiction RTS title from Russian publisher 1C Company and developer KD-LAB, Perimeter has already received significant recognition, including winning the "Best PC Game" and "Best Game Design" awards at the Russian Game Developers Conference. Codemasters will publish Perimeter in the United States for PC/CD-ROM in June 2004. For more information, please visit the game’s official website at www.codemasters.com/perimeter
