Gaming News - March 2004
Austin, TX (March 22, 2004) - NCsoft Corporation has updated beta
testing plans for City of Heroes. For the next two-and-a-half weeks, those who
purchase the City of Heroes pre-order box will earn spots in the beta test. All
customers who have registered their pre-order box accounts will be included in
the beta by April 7, 2004.
“We want to make sure that people understand that purchasing the pre-order
box at retailers around the country and in Canada guarantees entry into the open
beta,” said Michael Lewis, president of Cryptic Studios. “Customers will get a
chance to try City of Heroes and pick up a bonus in-game power that is exclusive
to the pre-order product.”
From NCsoft:
Each package will come with a special in-game “prestige power” unique to each
retail version of the pre-sale box. Only people who pre-order the game will
receive access to one of these powers. Each box also comes with a digital
version of the limited-edition City of Heroes preview comic book.
City of Heroes is the first massively multiplayer online game featuring a
modern, comic book-inspired setting. The game takes place in a virtual world
where players create their own super-powered heroes and fight crime in the
sprawling, villain-filled metropolis of Paragon City.
