Gaming News - March 2003
Boston, MA (March 24, 2003) - Tri Synergy today announced that their
upcoming trading strategy game, Port Royale, will ship to stores next quarter.
From Tri Synergy:
Set in the 16th and 17th century, Port Royale immerses gamers in the historic
rivalry between pirates and buccaneers. As a pirate or trader, players embark on
a journey through the Caribbean “New World” where they must establish their
reputation, build plantations and construct trade routes throughout 60 villages.
Port Royale is scheduled to ship in Q2 of 2003.
Port Royale is an empire-building RTS simulation with expansive environments
of over 4,000,000 square miles, where players can choose to be one of four great
nations; England, France, Spain or Holland, during the battle for colonization.
PC gamers will become true buccaneers as they plunder and seize their enemies’
villages or as a trader, amass a commanding fleet and strike against the pirates
first, while trying to develop their status in society.
“Port Royale is a refreshing take on the classic RTS genre,” said Shane
Nestler, executive vice president of Tri Synergy. “Players will become so
engrossed in the ‘pirate-esque’ world of
real-time, 3D sea battles and searching for hidden treasure, that they will
never want to leave.”
With explosive naval battles that display the ships damage, smoke and blazing
fires in strikingly realistic 3D, a full “pick up and play” tutorial mode and
multiplayer mode that supports up to 8 people via LAN or internet, Port Royale
is set to sail to the top of the RTS genre.
