San Francisco, CA (February 20, 2007) - SEGA today announced that
Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS3 has shipped to stores in North America.
From SEGA:
The highly anticipated video game will be the first fighting game available
for the next generation console. Virtua Fighter 5 features two new fighters,
brand new offensive moves, customizable characters, stunning high definition
graphics and highly detailed 3D environments.
Virtua Fighter 5 is one of the most critically acclaimed games by the media on
any Next Gen system. Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it review scores of 10, 9.5
and 9.5, as well as bestowing it with Game of the Month honors, a Gold Medal
distinction, and praising it as “the finest 3D fighting game ever created.”
The game features beautifully detailed stages from around the world where
players face off in fast-moving martial arts battles against one of 17
characters. Players will be able to customize their characters by altering their
appearance with an assortment of new costumes, hair color, accessories and more.
Two new characters, El Blaze and Eileen, join the elite group of fighters with
their own unique fighting styles. El Blaze is a Mexican wrestling champion who
uses the Lucha Libre fighting style while Eileen uses “Kou-Ken”, a Monkey Kung
Fu style.
Also new to the game is the Commentary Feature that allows players to turn on a
play-by-play sports commentary audio while fighting their opponent which brings
a broadcast presentation feel to the game. The reinvented Quest Mode allows
players to choose their opponents, which allows for a more strategic and
flexible gameplay experience.
“SEGA delivers the first martial arts style fighting game for the PLAYSTATION 3
system with Virtua Fighter 5,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of
Marketing, SEGA of America. “Not only is it a stunning looking game graphically,
but Virtua Fighter 5 delivers the most intense fighting experience available.”
