What features will be in Dark and Light at release?

Released prematurely in order not to deceive fans about a new DnL postpone, Settlers of Ganareth (SoG) has been a streak of events, based on the Dark and Light (DnL) mythological Universe. Despite the fact the game was free, the lack of polish and major stability issues with the server led to a bad impact on the product. Unfortunately this made the anticipation ratings go down in the polls of most specialized websites.

Of course, this hasn’t stopped us from continuing to work on the development and the release of the Dark and Light project. The main objective of Dark and Light is to offer the players a MMO based on a rich mythology, and provide total freedom in game, thanks to the unique world.

You can find hereunder the description of the new main characteristics you will find when entering Dark and Light.

You have to remember that Dark and Light offers a real social game, where guild involvement is rewarded with SXP, and gives access to forts and holdings.

The forts and holdings are the counterparts of fighting and crafting, for group gameplay.

The fragile balance between Darks and Lights should make interesting events happen, from which our permanent Game Masters will build a very active world…

Natural resource exploitation

Holdings offer a great opportunity for a global gaming strategy: the group of players managing a holding will feed forts and mana fountains. Nevertheless, the holding manager will have to deliver the cargo with carts and protect them until they reach the fort to receive his income.

Dark and Light will use an economical system based on three main elements:

- Holdings, which will be acquired and adapted if the player has a sufficient SXP and CXP level
- The extraction of resources (wood, stone, metal, crystals, water/gas and animal products) and ingredients, needed to make a crafted item or for improvement of holdings
- Merchants all over the world, where prices will be determined by the domain’s economy

Conquest

- A fort will require maintenance and will depend on the domain’s holdings
- Strong independence between holding managers and lords
- Diffusion of mana and stamina
- Strategic maps with the energy towers’ influence
- 300 individual elements will be available in order to rebuild your armor
- Integration of robes, chain mail and cloth clothing
- The catapult becomes an active siege weapon
- Additional weapons such as bows, staves, rods, swords, etc, as well as all new weapons such as thrown weapons, and dual wielding weapons.

Exploration

- Exploration will no longer be an actual axis; players will earn points every time they enter new domains.
- The transit system has been made far denser; the teleporting points have been placed in key locations (near villages and places of interests),
- New ambiances, such as ice, crystals, volcanoes, or elvish forests will be discovered while traveling;
- The Dark, Light, Al-drifa, Ysatis’ and Agnar’s kingdoms will be open at release. The kingdoms beyond those will open as the players evolve in Dark and Light.
