Let me first start by saying this is one of the longest, and most definitely
greatest single player missions in any war game I've ever seen. It's based on
a real battle and real events, unlike many of the other missions in the game
and the cinematic feel really puts you in the heat of the battle.

After the boat ride onto the beaches, quickly move onto the sand where you'll
be struck down by an explosion. If you stay on the boat for more than five
seconds you'll die instantly from artillery so move. After a few seconds you'll
be picked up and eventually will be able to continue along the beach. Keep as
close to the cliff-face as you can to minimise the chance of being hit by enemy
fire, and continue along until you find a rope that you can climb up.

Once you reach the top, make your way into the trenches to the left, and head
along them taking out the four or so Germans there. You should reach the bunker
at the end and find it empty, head back along the trench and go to the left.
Follow it around and kill any Germans in it, then you'll go under an MG42 about
half way. Try to pop up and take them out, then continue along the trench.

You'll reach the end and find it blocked off. Luckily one of your squad mates
has the right idea and tells you to use a smoke grenade for cover. Throw the
smoke right at the MG42 bunker. Once it fills the area, mantle up the side of
the trench and run down the left hand side of the bunker, keeping in the large
craters. Pop up and shoot the MG42 gunner on the left, then move into his
position and move down the trench.

Take out the five or so Germans in the trench, then move towards the bunker.
As you reach the end of the trench, five Germans will make their way towards
you, so pop up and fire a few rifle shots into each of them, then move up and
kill the MG42 gunner in the bunker. Immediately turn around and watch to the
right for three or four Germans who will come up the stairs from below. Take
them out before they get you then move through the craters and meet up with
Sergeant Randall.

After the radio operator calls in artillery, about six Germans will run across
just along from your position. Help your squad pick them off and then move
through the arch into the small town. Move towards the center building, then
look into the doorway to the right and pick off three Germans. Your squad will
move in through the door and clear up any others. I'd suggest going to the
broken wall on the left and commandeering the 30 Cal from one of your squad
mates and using that to pick off any Germans you can see in the area ahead.

Once it looks clear, move over the broken wall and head behind the buildings to
the left. Completely flank all of the buildings and come up behind the
roadblock at the end. Jump over it, then carefully lean into the doorway and
prepare to grenade, or shoot a good five or so Germans who are visible from
this position. There'll usually be one or two to the left of the first room,
one or two to the left in the far room and usually one on the stairs.

Do your best to take them out, and then move up stairs and clear out the top
floor. Once that's done move back down and head out the back door with your
squad. Move into the orchard and take position behind the wall to the left. I'd
say go all of the way along the wall and then come up so you can see the back
of the halftrack that makes it's way in. Spray down all of the Germans who pop
out of the back then head further along to the left, taking out any more
Germans who are behind the various walls.

Once it's all clear, move along to the far end of the orchard and out onto the
road. Follow Sgt. Randall along the smaller road and make your way into the
field on the right. Move to each of the guns and plant your thermite grenades
at the back of each of them. Surprisingly, you'll encounter no enemy resistance
here, so move quickly, but you've got nothing to fear. After you've got them
all, head back to Sgt. Randall and follow him back to the main road.

You'll be told that the Commanding Officer wants all of the Germans on the
Pointe to be wiped out, so you need to move back into the battlefield and kill
off the rest of them. As you move through to orchard again, about five Germans
will appear behind the far wall, so make sure you pick them off, then take out
the five to ten in the left field, just next to that big house.

Head through the house, then mantle over the roadblock to the right and flank
around the houses like you did before. From your new position, pick off the ten
or so Germans in this area, then head through the arch and join up with your
soldiers in the craters. Make your way across, taking cover every time you need
to, and meet up with your main guys at the gate. After a few seconds it'll be
blown open, then you can move in.

Quickly head to the left and take cover in the craters, then try to clear out
the Germans behind the sandbags and move into their position. Head off down the
trench killing around ten more Germans and make your way to the bunker. Move in
and kill three Germans around this area, then probably a good five or so more
in the trenches in front. Move out the back of the bunker and climb up the
trench, making your way over to the guns to the left. From there move into the
next trench down and sneak along it.

Keep going until you reach another large concrete object, then get a few
grenades into the nearest bunker as there are five Germans inside it. Move in
and clear up to secure this bunker, then prepare to make your way to the final
one. Head down the steps to the left and move along the tunnel system before
engaging with the four Germans in the room to the left. Watch out as you head
up the few steps at the other end as there is a German MG42 gunner looking
through a porthole in the wall, and another German on an MG just to the right.
You could either use a smoke grenade to allow you un-seen access into their
bunker, where you can wipe out the five or so Germans in there, or use a few
grenades and finish everyone off with your Thompson. Once they're all dead,
move back up top and meet up with Sgt. Randall to pass part one of the greatest
mission in history.

As a strange little note, watch how Sgt. Randall some how radio's a message to
HQ without an actual radio in his hand or on his back. Maybe he's got a built
in mic in his Thompson?
