Mom leaves. Save the game, then return to the guild now. You have a ton of
experience to spend. Max out your strength skills (or at least get them to the
point where you can get that sword out of the stone over at the Temple, because
that's where we'll be going next).
But before you leave, there are three quests on the table. Take all three.

While we're at the guild, head into the training area and (finally) open up
that 20 silver key chest. Inside you'll pick up a Murren Greathammer, which is
a pretty decent weapon as long as you don't mind the slow attack rate. When
you're done with that, teleport over to Knothole Glade and head over to the
temple. Pull the sword out of the rock (it's not quite as good as some of the
weaponry you already have, but at least this will get that quest off our
books).
Return to the guild and leave through Lookout Point. Head south for the
Greatwood Entrance. We're going to save those hostages now. When you get there,
start taking down bandits and head into Fisher Creek to save the man. Then it's
back to the Entrance. When you get to the Lake and take care of the immediate
threats, make sure to stop after the leader threatens the girl (he will kill
her if you get too close). Instead, pull out your bow, take a nice long
pullback, and let loose. The bandit leader will come to you (along with a few
of his cronies). Take them all out to finish up this quest. In addition to the
money, you will also pick up another treasure clue.
Okay, you've got a bit of a jog ahead of you. You need to get to Darkwood Lake,
and you can't go via teleportation to Barrow Fields (if you do, you'll get
entrenched in the Hook Coast quest, and we don't want to go there quite yet).
So make your way south until you reach the lake, where you'll meet up with
Briar Rose. There's not really very much to this quest, when you get to the
portal, keep the minions off your partner until she finishes up the
incantation. Keep half an eye on her health level and be sure to use a heal
spell if it gets too low. You really shouldn't have much of a problem with this
one.
Teleport to Bowerstone South, and move toward the Prison. When you do, you'll
trigger your next silver quest. Move north, taking out guards as you go. Watch
the traders for the mustached one. When you find him, talk to him. At this
point, even the other traders will all turn against you. There shouldn't be
anything too serious until you get to Bowerstone Prison. Once there, some
guards will show up. Unfortunately, they tend to make a beeline for your
trader. Use Slow Time (or whatever other spell you prefer) and healing to keep
your trader alive while you take down the guards. Return him to Bowerstone
North to finish up this quest. You will pick up a sharpening augmentation as
well as a new trophy, the Trader Head.
Time to advance our gold quest. Teleport over to Barrow Fields and make your
way north to the Darkwood Ancient Cullis gate. When you get there, kill a bunch
of undead until the gate opens up. You are automatically taken through the
gate.
Welcome to Hook Coast! Plenty to do here, but since there's a gateway here, we
can come back whenever we like. For now, just run toward the gold icon, which
is the Abby. Seems to be blocked. Return to the Guild as per Mom's directions
(kinda controlling, isn't she?). Make your way into the tower, just in time to
see Mom captured. Can't leave her alone for a minute! Grab the book to finish
the quest. Then go talk to the guildmaster and accept his task. Don't worry,
despite what he says, you don't abandon all your remaining bronze quests.
