Reservoir Dogs is based on the infamous Tarantino movie of the same name.
It’s designed not only to invoke the story of the original film but also to fill
in the “missing parts” – action alluded to in the film that did not occur
onscreen. The game will include several elements to tie it into the film
including cutscenes that replay scenes from the movie and convey the major plot
points and a soundtrack lifted straight from the movie. Also, Michael Madsen
will reprise his role of Mr. Blonde, made infamous in a certain scene involving
an ear (it hasn’t been determined yet if this scene will appear in the game).
Reservoir Dogs was a violent movie by any account and you can certainly take
a run and gun approach to the game. However, the game will give you leeway in
determining your course of action. You’ll be able to neutralize enemies and
bystanders through intimidation, allowing you to spare their lives rather than
killing everyone that you see.
In addition to the ten third-person shooter missions that game will include
six driving missions. Each of these missions will have a unique objective, so
they each should play out differently. The mission shown at E3 began right after
Mr. Orange was shot while carjacking and you’re challenge is to get him to
safety before he dies. Of course, the police would like nothing better than to
get in your way and stop you.
Look for Reservoir Dogs on the PC, PS2, and Xbox in Fall 2006.
