So you have buses moving people around, and trains, ships and planes transporting cargo. Now it is time to re-evaluate your lines of transportation to increase efficiency and unleash the unprecedented growth you are looking for. The manual offers some great tips on design, including use of bridges and tunnels, building on difficult terrain, and most interestingly, some more expert track layouts such as loops, double track lines, and junctions. Get a handle on the basics on your own before trying to move on to the more complicated designs (hint: slow time down the first time you are going for a high-level design to give yourself a chance to pull it off).

Finally, once you have given your city the means of infrastructure, you can further help things along by developing industry to fully utilize your transportation empire. This can be a double-edged sword, so be careful. You can only develop industry, not raw materials. So the factories you build are at the whim of what the Earth can supply. Also, these industries are not yours to own and run. Industries fall into the public domain, so what you spend a mint on just might create a mint for your competitors.

Locomotion is a fun game for anyone enticed by the SimCity style. The game gives a unique twist in that you really focus on one aspect of the city development model, that being transportation, and focus less on some of the more mundane tasks (electricity, water, etc.). Some of the controls leave a bit to be desired, especially the road building window. Too much control makes it a bit clunky, and you cannot bang out roads and rail as quickly as in some other simulations. However, that level of detail is welcome in the vehicle window. While worrying about maintenance and stops of a single bus might seem cumbersome, it really allows you the ability to maximize the efficiency of your lines in an easy to read format.

In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated: 85%.  Locomotion hits on all cylinders as a transportation business simulator. If you are not stuck on the other areas of city simulation, you are sure to be satisfied.
