All is not perfect with RoE, though. First and foremost, Soundblaster owners
who experienced audio stutter in DOOM 3 will be disappointed to hear that the
issue still has not been resolved. In fact, it can be so bad at times that
you’ll want to play the game with the sound muted. Also, the new campaign starts
out strong but can not carry that momentum through until the end. It feels as if
the level designers ran out of steam and decided to compensate by ramping up the
game’s difficulty in its latter half. The difficulty ramps up significantly and
you’ll pay time and again for each small misstep. I wish that the more open play
of the game’s first half carried all the way through as the excitement generated
by the tactical freedom afforded you at the beginning can give way to
frustration as that freedom is taken away from you.
RoE doesn’t forget about DOOM 3’s multiplayer fans. The game comes with four
new maps for more deathmatch variety. The biggest addition though is the
inclusion of capture the flag and new maps to support the new game type. Capture
the flag is design for eight players on two four man teams.
RoE is good expansion for DOOM 3. It gives DOOM 3 fans more demon-killing
gameplay set in a new storyline, while adding just enough new to ward off the
“been there, done that” feeling. If you enjoyed DOOM 3 you’ll be very happy with
Resurrection of Evil and shouldn’t hesitate to add it to your arsenal.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
88%. Resurrection of Evil will add to any DOOM 3 fan’s enjoyment of
