"Pursuers tend to stick to the roads, so to lose someone chasing you head to a big lot like that at the Staples Center and they will take the long way around. Another option is to beat them to a freeway as they often will not get on the freeway and try to keep up with you by sticking to surface streets.

To stop cars coming towards you or alongside of you, aim for the tires. To stop cars from driving away from you, blow them up. To blow a car up, aim at its rear until the cursor turns red and then fire. This will be a one hit kill, but it is sometimes faster to simply keep firing at the rear license plate. You can also sometimes stop criminals as they are carjacking a car by kicking them as they are pulling the driver out of the car.

You can learn to recognize people who should be frisked and those who can be left alone. This will save you from wasting time frisking innocent people. Look for those who look away from you or walk differently than other people and frisk them. Not only will you find illegal items, you’ll work to increase your good cop karma. Good places to find a lot of people to frisk include: Hancock Park on Highland, Venice on Ozone, and Downtown at 4th and Hill.

If a criminal has a knife and drops it, pick it up right away and you can throw it at him. This can result in a one-hit kill to the head.

Picking up a new car at the impound lot will also restore your health.

Time your speed on foot just right – not too fast, not too slow – and then press jump as you run up to the front of a car and you’ll slide over the hood." - TEM
