| Some battles require a navy to win. |
The downfall of many an RTS game is its AI, both for pathfinding and enemy
factions. Luckily Nemesis does not suffer from this shortcoming. The game lets
you field large armies, but you can be reasonably sure that they will stay
together as a cohesive unit as you move them across the map. The enemy factions
also do a good job of giving you a challenging game. My only complaint in this
area is that the larger battles can be pandemonium and it can be difficult to
get a handle on all of your units, their status, and what they are up to while
the AI does not have to deal with this handicap.
Graphics are another matter, though. Nemesis is several years behind the curve
on this front, with a strictly 2D, fixed camera, old school RTS look. The game
supports higher resolutions, but even at the top resolutions the graphics appear
clunky and dated. This makes it come across as a game that’s several years old
and may turn some people off to it.
Nemesis overall provides some good strategy gameplay with a different tilt than
most other strategy games. If you’re an impatient rush gamer or revel in
developing elaborate bases then the game won’t appeal to you. However, if you
want to exercise other parts of your strategic mind, Nemesis will fill that need
nicely.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
78%. Nemesis is a good diversion for those looking for a little different
take on the real-time strategy formula.
