"OK, Bought it, Played it, Finished it.
I liked it.

I was getting tired of blasting monsters or trying to build some kind of Empire whether it be in outer space or down here on the good ole Earth. 'Strajeetee' (Bug's Bunny reference) and FPS (First Person Shooter) games are dominating the market and frankly, I'm just bored. These 2 genre's are the only thing out there in infinite numbers and too many variations to list.

Law and Order II was something different. Going back to old school adventure type gaming where you dont have to Shoot anything or Jump over a box to get your clue. You know what I'm talking about. So here's my review of it:

Storyline: 9 - Any good adventure needs a storyline or it's just a FPS, right? You start from the crime scene collecting evidence to making an arrest to prosecuting in court to getting a conviction. I won't give away the story but it's based on genetic research. Kinda cool.

Interface: 8 - It's smooth. It's simple click, drag and drop. Look for evidence with the mouse, click to add, Icons for instructions. Doesn't get easier than that. But even though it's simple, It works great for the gameplay. The only problem is you can attain more items and stuff than your "inventory" can handle. At which point you need to decide if the piece of evidence you want to collect is more important than what you already have. To make room in your inventory when it's full, you have to delete an item already there. Hmmm Is the bent bicycle wheel found at the crime scene more important than the hat found in the perps apartment? Managing your inventory will be a factor in the game.

Graphics/Sound: 7- Hey, there's the real life actors from Law and Order doing the voice's in this. Cool. All the character voices are good (and there's a bunch). You can tell they used real actors for this. Voice overs are quality and there is a decent amount of variations. Some are repetitive but that's only turns up because you need to keep going back to them (like the crime lab guy). But discover a new piece of evidence and it chimes in with a new voice over. Graphics are pretty good too. Even though it mainly contains faces when interviewing suspects and such, you have to admit they look realistic. For example when I saw the Judge, I immediately recognized her from TV (OK, maybe I watch too much TV). Some scenes include looking for evidence where you have scroll around with your mouse. But that is not a problem. Pixels are good and you will have no problems distinguishing items. The faces look really good but there is no animation really.

Replay: 4 - Well, even though I like this game...I completed it in about 10 hours. Kinda short for an adventure type game. But there is an option to replay with different skills which may change that. We will have to see when I play it again.

OK, wait! I'm getting long winded here. So here's the scoop on Law and Order II....

If your a fan of the show or like detective type games, pick it up. If you want to shoot stuff with your laser gun, forget it :)

Overall score = 7 (out of 10)" - DrShock
