Enigma: Rising Tide
We recently had the chance to ask a few questions of the team at Tesseraction on their game Enigma: Rising Tide and here is what they had to say...
GT: Enigma has been described as a naval vehicular shooter. Does that
mean that every player controls a ship and has at it, or can ships be crewed by
multiple players?
T: Ships can be crewed by multiplayer players (multiplayer version – not singleplayer)
GT: How many different types of ships are there in the game? Are they based on
the ship classes of the late 1930s or have they been uniquely designed for the
game?
T: All ships are either the actual ships, or appropriate derivatives of actual
ships. There are currently 21 different classes of ship in the game. We are
currently working on the next class additions including Cruiser, Light Cruiser,
Zeppelin, Carrier and additional Battleship classes.
GT: Do the available ships differ between the three factions?
T: Of course, just like in real-life.
GT: Does each ship have its own set of strengths and weaknesses? What’s to
prevent every player from choosing to control a battleship?
T: Ships do have their own unique strengths and weaknesses; things like speed,
agility, armament, armor, etc. If a player has sufficient rank to command a
Battleship, and there is one available, nothing will prevent it.
Enigma is patterned on the real Navy. You don’t get unlimited right to pick your
ship, in fact your initial ships are selected for you. You have to earn
additional ships.
GT: Will there be aircraft in the game?
T: Yes, many types. Currently they are none controllable by the player, but that
is a future expansion which we are working on.
