Toymaker Tinx Robinson has created a dancing robot, Xango, which she likes to put to work in her warehouse. When Xango accidently ships the parts that Tinx intended to use to upgrade the robot, Xango must travel to warehouses around the world to recover the parts.

This backstory is the setup for a puzzle game in the Bejeweled mold, but in this case rather than trying to match gems of the same color you're working with crates. You're given grid of various colored crates and you can use Xango to toss colored crates into the stack in an attempt to line up three or more crates of the same color either vertically or horizontally. When a match is made the crates are eliminated and the crates above drop down to fill the gap, potentially creating a chain reaction of color matches. Eventually new crates will stop dropping onto the stack from the top of the screen and you'll be able to eliminate the entire stack, but you'll need to do so before the timer runs out. Occasionally special power-up crates will appear, and if you're successful in eliminating them you'll gain a bonus such as a temporary freeze on the timer or the elimination of surrounding blocks regardless of color.

The Bejeweled game mechanic has proven successful and has been widely mimicked in puzzle games. While some of these derivative games have proven to be fun in their own right, Xango Tango has failed to capture the key elements that make Bejeweled-style games fun to play. The game is amusing enough for a couple of levels, but after that it just feels like more of the same. As you progress through the game, the challenge is increased merely by speeding things up rather than building upon the game's basic elements. You'll probably eventually grow bored or frustrated, and you're not very likely to want to spend more time with the game after that.

In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated: 60%. Another color-matching puzzle game ... this time with a robot.
