"A good strategy to use in combat is to try an attack an enemy unit from the
flank or side. To do this, I find that it helps if you have one unit charge to
engage the enemy head on while a second unit (the best are mounted units) rushes
in from the side or flank. If you want to avoid casualties, you can even have
the head on unit pull back just before engaging, and then send it in again when
the enemy is in shock from the side or flanking attack." - A Sad Knight

"A dirty trick to take out a large force is to put a knife in its back.
If possible, try to make as many allies as you can. When engaging in battle, let
that faction fight for you and then rush them from behind." - asdf
"In combat, if u are russia u get as one of the uits u get right of te
bat ( in the second age) boyars. If you make an army of about three units ofd
these u can dominate the field becuase they are very good with both Bows and
Swords. This can give you a great advantage gaist most factions and rebel
parties. It's also very awesome to have fien units of thm chasin down a group of
mounted archers and watch thm slowly gain ground and then slice them to
bits.lololol. Hope this helps someone.." - Th Lionhearted
"When starting at the early age try to build ships as quickly as
possible, the control over the seas is vital in medieval total war, bringing
extra income and allowing sea landings to attack provinces. Always try to keep a
secure trade route, and really push to take control of the atlantic (needs deep
sea ships), as if your normal trade routes are attacked, you can still gain
income by using the atlantic as a trade route." - Spry
