"The game is the best strategy game I have come across in 30 years of
wargamming both computer and otherwise. However the power and role of the
longbowman is unbalanced. There was a real fear of them in Europe at the time
and they were the closest thing to the universal soldier this planet has seen. I
can understand why for the games sake their power is reduced but historical
accuracy is the loser. I would prefer to see longer training times and higher
costs plus an adherence to region ie Wales and Northumbria rather than the loss
of their power. It is worth remembering that these men were valued specialists
not unlike the SAS and carried much the same aura. The Greative Assembly
have created an awesome game except in this respect." - stephen
"Battles constantly decided by weather instead of armies and tactics,
unrealistic non-stop rebellions dropping massive paratroop divisions behind your
lines, diplomatic units ad nauseam. Good idea very poorly designed. If you want
historical realism and the chance to outmaneuver and outfight your opponent keep
looking. Give the Creative Assembly graphics designers a raise and fire their
playtesters." - Long Time Wargamer
"medieval total war is the best game I've played it has lots of units to
choose from (over100) and it has unique battle grounds to fight on. you can also
create your own map on the map editor which is included my favorite type of
units is heavy cavalry which its shock inflicting methods make me win every
battle that I've faced even against real people! I have also completed the
campaign and give activision a thumbs up!" - paul charles
"the only reason it is not a perfect game is 1. it needs a very good computer
to run it and 2. the graghics arnt' good in battle scences. That will change in
roman total war though. it looks to be the perfect game." - andy
