"If you have a large army and wishing to attack another make sure you
have every type of troop for every eventuality: infantry for facing other
infantry; cavalry for facing other cavalry and artillery and also flanking
infantry formations; cannon for general attack and opening and cover attacks
(also sieges).
When using infantry make sure you have cavalry and vice versa... you need
infantry to make an initial attack and cavalry to make the final decisive push.
Position two or an even number of companies of infantry in the fore-rank and one
in reserve, with two or an even number of brigades of cavalry on it's flank. If
you have artillery present fire some opening salvoes onto the opposing
infantry...it should soften up the defenses and if the attack was successful
enough it should make some run...when you are satisfied with the enemy's
defense, move forward your front ranks of infantry and put your reserve infantry
in their place. Move the infantry formations in a line, put the option for
"cease fire" on and when your muskets get within range and give fire, hopefully
this volley should be enough to make them run, if so charge your cavalry, if not
keep firing. when you are satisfied once again charge your cavalry towards the
flanks bringing together the enemy runners. Then advance your infantry and the
battle field should be yours! Keep using these tactics and you should be on your
way to victory!" - RTS King
"When invading enemy territory with a large contingency of troops,
attack their dwellings first, and occupy them. They can't create more troops
without dwellings." - Cheddar
"when building adefensive position try to compact your buildings as
close as possible .put infantry in front of buildings.have a small formation of
men next to your farms and where you get wood so that any raiding party cannot
take your peasants. make every thing in masses beacause if you just build what
you need you just get killed" - hi
