R.C. Cars is an arcade-style racer that gives players control of a
radio-controlled car. Cars are raced in real-world, off-road locations,
complete with obstacles that include people and animals. By placing in
races, players will win cash to purchase car upgrades and will be able to unlock
new tracks.
Although
it is an arcade racer, R.C. Cars actually employs a detailed physics model.
Cars will exhibit realistic control that will help players to feel that they are
actually racing an R/C car. The cars will also feature fully modeled
suspensions that react to the track environments. You can fully expect R.C.
Cars to provide a more realistic driving experience than some racing simulators
- not bad for an arcade racer.
The game's tracks will feature a mix of realism and arcade features. On
the arcade side of things, you'll find secret shortcuts and hidden power-ups
that can be obtained by knocking over some objects on the track. The
tracks themselves cover such real-world locations as a ranch and a crowded beach
resort. You'll need to contend with AI-controlled people and animals, so
don't be surprised if you are chased by a dog or if some bully tries to kick
your car over.
The combination of real-world control and physics with some of the more
enjoyable features of arcade racers may bring together the best of both worlds
into an enjoyable racing experience. Look for R.C. Cars in late summer or
early autumn of 2002 .
