The game's repetitive feel is not helped any by the complete lack of any kind
of save mechanism. Dying during a mission requires that you start the
whole thing over again. While none of the missions are so long that you'll
lose large amounts of play time to doing things all over again, it can be very
frustrating to die near the end of mission and then be forced to trudge through
the whole thing all over again.
Carnivores is built on the Serious Sam engine, so as expected it provides
some very nice looking environments. There are some really nice lighting
effects in some of the game's more cramped environments that do a good job of
building suspense and keeping you on edge. However, the graphics and
textures used are inconsistent, so while some objects look incredibly good,
others appear somewhat grainy or blocky.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
58%. Carnivores just plain falls short in its execution and its
repetitive nature makes it difficult to hold the player's interest for long.
