"I’ve read a lot of reviews on this game, but decided to buy it anyway.
As many have already stated, it takes a long time to figure this game out. Most
of us are used to sitting down and mastering a sim game within the hour now.
We’ve played so many of them and most of them require the same line of thinking
to be successful. Hotel Giant, on the other hand, is completely unique in it’s
management. Each aspect of the game must be tweaked and then tweaked again to
obtain maximum profit. My advice to all Hotel Giant gamers and soon to be gamers
is to use the tutorial. Yes, you haven’t used one of these in a long, long time,
and yes, it does make you feel like a bit of a novice. But after attempting to
play the game for about an hour, I finally decided to suck it up and use the
tutorial. Admittedly, it took some time with the tutorial. In fact, I had to
play through about three scenarios before I felt like I was truly understanding
the game. Once I did that, however, I was able to take over and finally begin
running a money making hotel. With that in mind, the following are a few pieces
of advice that might help.
- When building, put the game on pause. This will save you valuable game time
and will also keep you from losing money. In addition, be advised that once you
open your hotel, a guest may come in and out of a room while you are still
building it. If you decide to open your hotel before it is finished, build
between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Everybody’s a sleep during that time.
- After building a room, double click on it. This will bring up the room
information screen. Then use the drag and click tool to make the room larger or
smaller. This will change the room grade from normal to deluxe 1 or 2.
- When starting out, use middle of the road quality. In other words, don’t use
the cheap décor but don’t use the most expensive either. Pick something right in
the middle. This will help with room bookings AND with the customer’s opinion of
your hotel.
