The snows of the Russian Motherland. |
The game offers the ¾ rolling perspective. The terrain detail is good, and
while your individual troops seem very small, they are not too hard to see and
track. The game is sometimes a little slow on scrolling, however, and when
clicking on the inset map, you do not always get to the spot you would expect.
Giving your units orders is simple, and routine for this kind of game (i.e.
click on a unit and click where you want to unit to go or which enemy unit to
engage).
The missions themselves are laid out well. They follow each other in
chronological sequence, and the objectives are clearly stated and easy to
understand, although often not too easy to accomplish.
In general, WWII Frontline Command is a very enjoyable game. It was definitely
interesting to play a game that to some extent had the look and feel of an Age
of Empires, yet with game play focused on mission accomplishment as opposed to
strategic planning (i.e. no need to develop your trade economy or make sure you
have enough lumber to build houses).
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
90%. Bottom line is to definitely give this game a try if you have any
penchant for military games. It does not carry the addictive lure of a major
blockbuster game, but it is definitely better than the average WWII offering.
