K. Hawk is made further frustrating by the enemy AI. The advantage you
gain by the AI's tendency to get lost during pursuits is trumped in spades by
their deadly accurate fire. The AI never seems to miss and can take you
down with a few shots. If an alarm is set off, you're assured of having to
reload your last save. You'll come under withering fire from many angles
and be dropped in a few moments while an enemy soldier takes four head shots
from your weapon at close range and be none the worse for wear for it.
Since getting into combat will more often than not end your game, K. Hawk is
primarily focused on sneaking around which really just involves constantly
keeping your eyes on the EPU. There's not much puzzle-solving in the game
beyond switch-flipping and looking behind crates for guns and ammo, making
gameplay pretty simplistic. Simplistic is not necessarily a bad thing in
and of itself (think Tetris), but the game's poor graphics, sounds, control, and voice acting
don't help matters. You're left with repetitive and non-compelling
gameplay that is just not all that interesting.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
48%. There are certainly worse budget titles out there, but if you
tire of a game after less than an hour of play how much of a bargain is it?
