One example of the imaginative situations the player will find his/herself in occurs when a bridge collapses under Sam and he drops to the floor of the room below.  It turns out this particular floor is a trampoline and Sam will begin to make large leaps and bounds with every step.  Soon, enemies will begin pouring into the room and begin bouncing right along with Sam.  The resultant bouncing and shooting mayhem is a real treat for players.

In addition to the single player game, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter ships with a multiplayer game that can be played in death match or cooperative mode.  The cooperative games are a blast as the human players square off against the game's many monsters.  For those with a creative bent, the game even ships with its own mod-making toolkit.

The graphics in the game are stunning.  The environments are detailed and colorful, and really add to the game's enjoyment.  Whether its the glow of torches along a wall in a narrow corridor or the shadows cast by a sun low in the sky, the lighting effects are top-notch.  The game's engine is able to render these gorgeous environments and fill them with swarms of enemies without slowing the game's framerate, even on systems close to the game's minimum requirements.

The game's sounds are also top-notch.  Each enemy makes a distinctive sound as it attacks, and often players will hear an enemy before seeing him.  The directional effects are well-done, and players can usually determine the direction of the impending attack.

All of this is wrapped-up in a game with its own warped sense of humor that fits the atmosphere wonderfully, rarely coming off as cheesy or overly camp.  Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is an all-around fun experience, and at less than $20, buying it should be a no-brainer.

In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated: 93%. Imaginative levels, great graphics, memorable enemies, ... the list goes on.  If you're an action game fan, buy this game.
