Undying has a lot of nice touches that really enhance the gameplaying experience.  For example, should Patrick die, the player is treated to a unique death scene for each type of creature.  Some of these are so imaginative, that you'll probably want to let Patrick die at the hands of each monster in the game just to watch the death scenes.

There is not much to complain about in this game other than a few minor annoyances.  First of all, even though the mansion is huge, you'll encounter a lot of locked doors.  Some of these can be unlocked later as the story progresses, but they can give the game a bit of a linear feel at times and it can be frustrating to move from locked door to locked door.  Secondly, the game's difficulty almost progresses in the opposite direction as most games.  Early on your weapons are weak and your spellbook thin, so it can be tough going for Patrick at times.  Later in the game, you'll have access to some very powerful weapons, which seem to make things easier.

These are minor points, though, when taken together with the game's incredible graphics, great sound, compelling storyline, and engrossing atmosphere.  Fans of first-person shooters and horror games should not pass this one up.

In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated: 97%. Undying is a great game that does an incredible job of bringing the player into its world.  Just don't play it alone late at night...
