Majesty is an innovative strategy game that operates under the premise that
the ruler of a kingdom would not be able to directly specify the actions of each
and every person in his/her domain. Instead, the kingdom's sovereign could
commission buildings and offer rewards for fulfilling quests while it would be
up to his/her subjects to carry out the plans. Now Majesty has an
expansion which opens up a new area of Ardania and introduces new quests,
buildings, and monsters to the game.
The first thing you'll notice after installing the expansion is that the map
has been expanded to the north and includes new quests. All of the quests
of the original game are available, too. However, they have been enhanced
by a new feature known as 'special events'. These include such things as
coordinated monster attacks or the arrival of an epic hero.
New monsters will assault your kingdom, many of which can work in unison with
each other. You'll also see new magical enemies and even face monsters
bearing siege weapons.
Your arsenal has been increased to help you meet these new threats. New
buildings include:
- Embassy - This will randomly recruit heroes from distant lands to fill
open spots in your guilds. Gold for the new heroes is deducted from
your treasury automatically until you instruct it to stop recruiting.
- Hall of Champions - Tracks the creatures slain by your heroes.
Allows you to set a booty on a particular creature type.
- Magic Bazaar - A collection of shops which makes six new magic items
available for your heroes to purchase.
- Mausoleum - A graveyard for your heroes which does not generate undead
creatures. You can also resurrect dead heroes from here.
- Outpost - Works as a back-up palace allowing you to run your kingdom after
the palace has been destroyed.
- Sorcerers Abode - Provides you with six new player castable spells.
Finally, The Northern Expansion adds some new features to the multiplayer
game. A build tree editor has been added which allows players to limit the
buildings available to players in the game and you can now specify special events
such as monster attack waves to occur during a game.
