One peculiar quirk of this game is that you need to build each hole on the course one by one out of your initial budget.  Since you will not be able to afford 18 (or even 9) holes right away, you will begin operation with a course that has only a couple of holes.  This apparently does not bother the golfers who visit your course, though, so you'll eventually collect enough revenue to build up your holes one by one.

You'll find the game slow-going at first.  There is no way to adjust the time-scale, so initially you'll spend a lot of time watching your 3 or 4 hole course while waiting for enough money to accumulate so that you can build your next hole or facility.  The golfer animations are interesting to watch as they play your course, but not so much so as to make up for the need to spend so much time waiting for money when you are starting out.

Serious golfers should be aware that this game is more of an economic simulator than a full course designer.  You'll be able to select the direction of each hole and the width of its fairway, but will not be able to change the shape of the hole to a custom one.  Also, hazards such as bunkers and water come in predefined shapes which can be rotated, but there is no way to change their shape.  This hole configuration method does work out fine for the game, but don't expect the same degree of control you get with course designers that ship with golfing sims.

Golf Resort Tycoon comes with a 3D mode that allows you to tour your resort from the golfers' perspective.  This is more of a 'gee-whiz' feature as you can not manage your course from this view.  While it is interesting to tour your resort from this viewpoint, you'll only make use of it occasionally as it will not hold your interest for very long.

In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated: 65%.  The lack of any control over the game's timescale is a serious drawback.  Otherwise the game does have it's own, albeit quirky, charm
