The turn-based fantasy strategy game Age of Wonders is getting the sequel
treatment with Age of Wonders 2. The sequel will feature updated graphics and
gameplay. These changes will include:
- An improved AI to provide more challenge.
- Increased importance of towns as centers of magic and power - they will
longer be just unit factories.
- The magic system has been revamped and organized into several disciplines
- each with it's own god which can bestow favor or take retribution on the
player.
- Transformable terrain which can be affected by spells - for example,
mountains can be created, forests set on fire, etc.
- The tactical combat system has been overhauled - units begin closer to
each other, combat is affected by terrain, and spells can be cast by wizards
in towers in your cities that are within range of the battle.
Age of Wonders 2 is due in the Spring of 2002.
