It is 2032 and the world is at peace.  Unfortunately, a cabal of magnates who made their fortunes and careers from mankind's misery has begun to work together to destabilize the new world order.  Operating out of the South Pacific, they feel they are out of the reach of a world that is forgetting how to fight.  However, they did not count on the Antaeus, an adaptive cruiser lying at the bottom of the Pacific.  You are placed in charge of the newly raised and restored Antaeus and must bring its weaponry to bear on the evil cabal.

Before the Antaeus was sunk, a new technology known as 'Soulcatcher' was developed.  With Soulcatcher, the personality and skills of a warrior could be captured at the time of his/her death.  These skills could then be downloaded into a chip which could be placed in a vehicle in order to control it.  When the Antaeus was sunk, Soulcatcher was able to save the personalities of key members of its crew - crew members now at your disposal.  Combined with an onboard nanofactory, these chips allow you to create very intelligent units for use in completing your missions.  Care should be taken when assigning Soulcatcher chips to vehicles, though.  A skilled pilot will find a tank hard to handle and will not perform as well as a dyed in the wool tank jockey.  Also, the technology captures personalities as well as skills, and you will soon find that some chips play better with others while some maintain longstanding dislike for each other.

You can either assign specific tasks to each of these units or let the Soulcatcher AI take over and handle things (should you prefer a more hands-on approach, you have the option of jumping in and taking control of any vehicle yourself).  Orders are given via a 3D war room map which presents an overview of the battle.  Time is paused while you are giving orders, which provides a breather from the game's frantic pace and allows you to develop your strategies for completing the mission's objectives.

The game consists of 21 missions which take the Antaeus through the South Pacific island chain run by the cabal.  Each mission has its own set of objectives that tie into the game's storyline, some of which unfold dynamically as the mission progresses.
