"Find a spot just out of view of the edge of an enemy town.  Build a tower there and move in a few troops to protect your peasant.  Next build a castle and then a town center.  If you have the time, build barracks and siege workshops too.  You'll soon be able to overwhelm your enemy with special troops and will be able to quickly replace your losses." - drago
