So your empire has survived the Dark Ages and now finds itself at the dawn of
the Feudal Age. What should you do now? Well, you'll want to advance quickly
through the Feudal Age, taking care to lay the groundwork for continued success
in the following ages. This installment of the Age of Empires II strategy guide
series will help you do just that.
The first order of business is to expand your production. You must lay the
groundwork for a sound economy so that you will have the resources you need when
things really start to get hot in the Castle Age. Your first step should be to
go to the mill and research the farming improvement. This has the dual advantage
of saving your wood in the long run and taking some of the burden of rebuilding
farms off of your shoulders. Next, continue to produce villagers. Have eight
assigned to food production, placing each farm adjacent to the mill. You should
also have at least two villagers mining stone, and two gold. Have the remaining
work as lumberjacks except for one which you should use as a builder.
