By Tim Jordan
Bolt is the superstar dog starring in one of Hollywood's biggest shows,
except he is the only one who does not know it! Bolt's keepers and on-screen
friends are all in on the secret and keep him in the dark so that his acting is
authentic (i.e. he really believes in his heart that he is saving humanity on a
daily basis). The secret is safe and the star's life goes on until one day Bolt
is accidentally separated from his on-screen buddy Penny and shipped off to New
York City. Bolt and a couple friends then set off to find Penny and reunite, and
along the way he realizes that he can fight super battles and overcome
tremendous obstacles even with ordinary everyday powers.
The plot of this Disney offering is surprisingly similar to that of one of
the Dalmatians movies, but Bolt is far more successful in delivering an
entertaining story. While the story might lack some originality, the success is
in the charm of the characters and the wit of the one-liners. Bolt definitely
delivers on both counts.
A few of the characters might be a little scary for the younger viewers, but
the upside there is that the movie is very entertaining for adults also.

The bonus features on Bolt are up to the usually high Disney standards in
terms of quality, variety and interest, but the one of particular interest is
the digital and DVD copies of the film. It is very nice to have the various

different formats.
